Another beautiful day in Hutchinson Island as the local fisherman are out enjoying the early morning sunrise hoping to catch their first fish of the day. I saw several sea turtles nests while on my morning walk. This is the season for turtle nesting along the coast of Florida. From May 15 to Oct 15th we have the sea turtle’s nesting and laying their eggs. They start to hatch about 60 days after laying and in the early morning or late evening if you are lucky to catch them leaving their nest and heading to sea. During the spring you will also see the baitfish migrate along the beach. This shot was taken from the Ocean House condos in Ocean Village in Fort Pierce on Hutchinson Island. The gated community encompasses a golf course, tennis and several community pools as well as a Tiki bar and restaurant. The community features 1 bedroom condos all the way up to direct oceanfront condos and single family homes. They have an array of different properties for everyone. The prices are much less than Palm Beach County in places such as Boca Raton and Jupiter. The same Boca Raton condo would be at least 50% higher in price than an Ocean Village unit. The Ocean House condo is also one of a few pet friendly condos on Hutchinson Island. If you were looking for Boca Raton condos you would be hard pressed to find a pet friendly ocean condo.
Hutchinson Island runs about 18 miles and is in Martin & St. Lucie Counties. The barrier island offers a bit of Old Florida living even in 2014. The quiet beaches and less populated areas make for a quiet vacation without the crowds you are looking to escape. Between fishing and boating you can stay busy every day while on vacation here. With Vero Beach just a short drive North of Ocean Village you can enjoy dinner in Vero Beach or shoot down to Stuart and enjoy a night out.
